Rome Host Protection

The Rome Host Protection Program provides protection in respect of the damages arising out of Rome platform booking activity for which you become legally liable to third parties. The protection features a limit of $500,000 USD, including legal defense at our insurer’s expense by counsel of our insurer’s choice. 

The Rome Host Protection Program includes a neighbor and tenant’s liability feature that responds to occupant-caused damage for which you are legally liable when the consequences of such damage spread from your property to the property of neighbors and co-tenants.

The Rome Host Protection Program has a limited scope. For example, it does NOT respond to claims that:

• Are expected or intended by you the Host;

• Arises out of an illness, sickness or disease; 

• involve the delivery of professional services;

• Involve an aircraft, motor vehicle or watercraft;

Medical Expenses

The Rome Host Protection Program also provides protection in respect of the necessary medical expenses as they relate to an accident causing bodily injury to a third party.

Examples of types of expenses this feature protects: 

• Reasonable first aid charges, medical, surgical, x-ray, dental, ambulance, hospital, professional nursing, prosthetic devices and funeral services. 

This protection feature does NOT protect: 

• You, your employees or anyone on the premises without permission.

Your responsibilities as protected owner:

• Give prompt notice events or circumstances that might lead to a claim, such as a notice, demand, summons or complaint;

• Provide names and addresses of any claimants and available witnesses;

• Cooperate with us in the investigation of a loss or claim;

• Notify the police in case of loss by theft;

• Protect damaged property from sustaining further damage;

• Accurately document damages, repairs and expenses with bills, receipts and photographs.

Damage Protection Guarantee

Rome offers the Damage Protection Guarantee under Rome Cover. With this program, Rome will guarantee a guest’s liability to hosts for eligible damages up to $5,000 USD per booking ($2,500 USD per item). This means that in the event that a host’s space or belongings are damaged by a guest or pet during a booking, we will ensure that the host will be reimbursed. This guarantee is automatically available for all bookings made using Rome in accordance with the Rome Terms of Service. 

The maximum value per booking is $5,000, and the maximum value per damaged item is $2,500, minus a $50 minimum that you are responsible for.

Damages from general wear and tear, negligence, smoking, and criminal activity are not covered. Additionally, stolen items, cash, firearms, and vehicles are not covered. Any surrounding land or adjacent property is also not covered. This guarantee only covers damages caused by a Guest for which the Guest is liable under the Rome Terms of Service. This guarantee does not cover damage caused by any other reason.

Conditions, limitations, and exclusions may apply for both the Rome Host Protection Program and the Damage Protection Guarantee. Please note that the Host Protection Program and Damage Protection Guarantee only responds only to incidents within the United States of America.
